The State Police of Latvia is a State direct administration institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Latvia, which in accordance with its competency is responsible for implementation of the State policy in the field of combating crime and the protection of public order and safety, as well as in the field of protection of the rights and freedoms and the legitimate interests of persons. State Police is financed by the state budget of the Republic of Latvia.
Appropriate structure of State Police for this project would be Central Criminal Police Department. Main tasks of the Central Criminal Police Department in relation to the topic of this Call is to analyse the crime situation in the country at the operational and strategic level, to forecast its further development, to develop new methods for reducing crime as well as to organize and coordinate the activities of regional structural units. In crisis situations to detain armed and especially dangerous criminals, to release objects taken by these persons and hostages.
