The Direction Générale de la Sécurité Intérieure or the Directorate of Homeland Security (DGSI) is responsible for the investigation, centralisation and exploitation of information of interest to national security and the national fundamental interests. DGSI reports directly to the French Ministry of the Interior and it is the sole service of homeland security in France, responsible for fighting all activities susceptible of raising a threat to the Nation’s fundamental interests, including preventing the activities inspired or supported by third countries or organisations in French soil, likely to endanger the country’s security. This mission unfolds across four pillars: counterespionage, economic information warfare, fighting against terrorism and radicalisation and fighting against cybercrime.
