On September 19-20, 2022, CounteR Project took part in the IMPROVATE South East Europe Defence and Cyber Conference.
EI and IMG representatives participated in this high-level event, held in Sofia, Bulgaria with the attendance of AI experts in the fields of defence and cybersecurity, as well as leading political, government, industry, CSO, academia, and diplomatic community representatives from NATO, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Israel, Greece, Bosnia, Montenegro, Romania, and Albania.

As special guest to the event, former world chess champion, and AI expert, Garry Kasparov delivered a keynote speech entitled “Cyberwar in War: Offence is the Only Defence”. “The war in Ukraine is undoubtedly becoming a turning point in history, an important lesson and should remind us of the ability of free people to meet all challenges,” Kasparov said.

The conference featured panel discussions on the impact of the Ukraine war on future weapons’ development, global lessons from the Ukraine-Russia war, and cyber warfare in future conflicts.

“Always happy to discuss the potential of Imagga‘s pioneering computer vision tech in countering radicalisation and eliminating online threats, developed as part of the CounteR Project”, IMG’s Georgi Kostadinov commented.

Among the speakers at IMPROVATE were also Former Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Atlantic Club President Dr. Solomon Passy, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov, and Bulgarian Chief of Defence Admiral Emil Eftimov.

“This conference is an opportunity to foster insightful professional connections and contacts, interact with potential partners, and foster innovation – overall, in line with CounteR Project’s objectives”, EI’s Dr. Borislav Mavrov added.

The event’s organizer, IMPROVATE, is a London and Tel Aviv-based private consultancy that creates events and convenes high-level conferences to connect technology and innovation companies with governments, companies and investors worldwide.
